This article opens a series of studies devoted to the activities of business associations in Belarus and worldwide. The article analyzes the functions of associations related to solving the problems of state failures and market failures. Based on examples from post-socialist countries, it is analyzed how associations contribute to business efficiency by promoting export orientation, production optimization, standardization, and training. The results of the analysis allow us to set a conceptual framework for further research on the potential of associations in solving urgent business problems in Belarus.
