Education

One of the main goals of BEROC is to improve the quality of economic education for Belarusians and to bring international experience and expertise to Belarusian economic science. To this end, we run the following programs:

Programs for students and young professionals

Student School of Economics (more details in English). The main goal of the program is to introduce Belarusian students to the main concepts of modern economic science (macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics) in accordance with international standards, which Belarusian university programs do not always meet. Since 2011, we have held 12 Student Schools. Starting in 2020, we were forced to transfer the programs to an online format, and now they are available to students from Belarus, wherever they are. The language of instruction at the Student School is English. Before the forced relocation of the BEROC team from Belarus, we also ran Russian-language economics training programs for young professionals, including the Postgraduate School and the KEF School of Economics.

Since 2024, we have organized more systematic and large-scale training for students from Belarus. We have developed a full-fledged bachelor’s program in economics, which has already been launched jointly with the European Humanities University (EHU) in Vilnius. In addition, as part of our cooperation with EHU, we plan to launch a series of business courses for managers of Belarusian companies.

Programs for journalists, NGOs and opinion leaders
In 2022, BEROC organized the School of Economic Thinking and Reforms for Belarusian political and NGO leaders for the first time. Its goal is to teach the basics of economic thinking and key economic concepts that will help develop a vision for the future of Belarus and the economic reforms the country needs.

BEROC regularly organizes unique programs to train journalists in economics. In 2021, we launched a new project, the Laboratory of Economic Journalism (more in English), in which journalists study key economic concepts. They also participate in master classes and sessions with mentors, where they acquire and consolidate their analytical journalism skills. The educational process in the new BEROC project, the Green Economy School for Journalists, is built on a similar principle. We became the first organization in Belarus to develop a comprehensive program for training media representatives on this topic.
